Bonne Vie No 2, Ice Cream Bar

The Ice Cream Bar is located in the Cole Valley neighborhood of San Francisco.I just returned from a research visit in Las Vegas and had nothing in my fridge to put a quick lunch together. So I headed to the Ice Cream Bar to check out their lunch offerings and see what drinks (although non-alcoholic) are on the menu. I had a tough time deciding between the Passion Project lactart and and the float. After a short discussion with the soda jerk, I went with the Bonne Vie No. 2 float since I was looking for something light and refreshing. I never knew that basil ice cream could taste that good. What a nice refreshing surprise after a delayed flight back(Air Force One) from the heat of Las Vegas.

I am always impressed by their combination of flavors on their menu so I'll return soon for the Passion Project. I can't wait to see what fun concoctions they will come up with once they get their beer and wine license in place.

The Valentina, Ice Cream Bar

The Ice Cream Bar is located in the Cole Valley neighborhood of San Francisco (just a few blocks from the Haight/Ashbury).  Every time I go, I soak up the soda fountain experience. The Valentina is in the lactart section of the soda fountain menu. What's a lactart? Per the Ice Cream Bar Menu, "it's a milk acid which imparts a drying quality." This lactart is refreshing, smooth and captivating.

I just love the names of many of their soda fountain drinks, like El Borracho, Madrid Mistress, New Orleans Hangover and Too Good to Be True. All these drinks, non-alcoholic at this time until they can secure their license. If you know you only want one of the drinks from the soda fountain, skip the line in the front and head directly to the back to the soda fountain where you can find the soda jerk waiting for your order. They are now serving old soda fountain favorites for lunch, such as grilled cheese and hot dogs.

The Drink - The Valentina, $8
Strawberries, rosewood and rosemary extracts, pineapple syrup, cream, lactart, soda

A Lover's Game, Ice Cream Bar

The Ice Cream Bar in Cole Valley in San Francisco takes you back to the good old soda fountain days. I chose a drink from the Crush part of the menu (fruit based sodas). A Lover's Game crush has muddled raspberries, house chocolate syrup, soda and love. The soda jerk recommended that I drink my crush straight, without the straw since it changes the flavor profile of the drink. Loved every sip which gets sweeter, more chocolatey and richer as you drink. I can't wait to try other drinks on the menu and for the The Ice Cream Bar to get their liquor license!
